For Dr. Terry Williams, the reward of his work is seeing scholars learn and appreciate mathematics and coming to believe that they too can excel in this subject. He feels fulfilled at the end of every day, knowing he will return to do it again the next day.
He brings a wealth of experience to his IDEA classroom, with more than 18 years of teaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels. In addition to IDEA, which he came to in 2021, Dr. Williams has been an adjunct professor at Howard University since 2002. He has a Doctor of Statistics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Mathematics in pure and applied mathematics from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Williams came to the Washington, DC area in 1999 from Connecticut to pursue his doctorate. He even brings his love of math to his spare time, reading candlestick charts that are used to predict behaviors in the stock market. He’s also a big fan of sports, cheering on his favorite team, the New York Giants. He stays active with water sports when the weather permits and he has the time.
The quote that inspires him is: "Those who jump to conclusions often leap over facts." -author unknown
