Mr. Bengoechea has 16 years of experience providing academic support for students and their families. He began his academic career in 2004 at another DC public charter school.

As Dean of Students at IDEA, Mr. Bengoechea enjoys working with students and their families providing guidance and support to empower them to be successful students inside and outside of school. He believes that growth is never ending and strives to be a positive role model by incorporating academic thinking, learning, and knowledge as an everyday part of his interactions with students to enable them to succeed in academically sound and robust ways.

Mr. Bengoechea is a lifetime DMV resident and currently resides in Maryland with his wife and two daughters. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors and watching sports.
