Sharon Sneed serves as IDEA’s Security Manager and can also be seen serving meals and soliciting for enrollment on the IDEA shuttle bus.
Mrs. Sneed had several interesting careers before coming to IDEA. She worked for more than 11 years for an association-based insurance company, working her way up from claims analyst to the manager of the claims division. After the insurance company lost its license, she and her husband started and managed two full-service photography studios in Suitland and Fort Washington, both in Maryland. After that, Mrs. Sneed went into management in the food distribution industry where she worked for 17 years.
She was educated in the Washington, D.C. public schools, graduating from Frank W. Ballou High School. She went on to further her studies at Howard University, also in Washington, D.C., in the School of Nursing.
Mrs. Sneed is married and has four children. She is dedicated to and gets great joy in feeding, clothing, and serving the needy and helping others, whether young or old.
She believes that “you have to reach students where they are in life, one soul at a time.”
