Yvette Brown believes that we work together to resolve challenges in thoughtful and meaningful ways. Ms. Brown began her academic career by earning her bachelor’s degree in social work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Ms. Brown continued to pursue her education in social work by obtaining her master’s degree from Yeshiva University in New York City. She has more than 15 years of experience in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief intervention. Ms. Brown’s career includes working in various positions such as a school counselor, child abuse investigator, community support worker, therapist, and behavioral consultant. Ms. Brown is currently a clinical counselor at IDEA Public Charter School and finds the job rewarding and challenging at the same time. Ms. Brown enjoys her career in social work but also maintains a steady home life by raising her daughters, who keep her grounded and focused. She believes that change happens when students are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling and happy lives. Ms. Brown hopes to provide an environment of compassion and support to help students and families overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive.
